E.C. McKelvey And Wife Die In Car Crash
Eugene C. McKelvey, 60, brother of a well-known Methodist minister, and his wife were killed instantly Friday night about 9 o'clock in a car-truck collision on Highway 63 four miles south of Mammoth Springs.
State trooper Darrell Rose said a car driven by W.D. Hames of Violet Hill, Ark., crossed the center line and hit McKelvey's truck head-on.
Hames was reported injured critically. He was rushed to a Thayer, Mo., hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. McKelvey were enroute from their home at Greenway to Missouri to the bedside of a son who had suffered a heart attack.
Mr. McKelvey was a brother of Rev. G.A. McKelvey, pastor of First Methodist Church in Harrisburg and former pastor of Nettleton Methodist Church.
The bodies were taken to a Thayer funeral home but are being moved today to Paragould.
